Biography
I am a music lover, musician, ethnomusicologist, and musical folklorist. I have followed American vernacular music with a singular passion for four decades. In New Delhi, India, I was a medical doctor on the verge of inheriting my father's diagnostic radiology practice. In 1999, however, I caught a plane and a Greyhound to find my way to Appalachia and my uncommon second career has since seen me wear a number of hats in working with and proselytizing on behalf of Southern traditional music.
